Homeopathy Defined

Homeopathy is a system of medicine in which a remedy is given in order to trigger the body’s natural healing processes. The remedy chosen is a highly diluted form of a substance, usually given as a tablet, whose reactions in a healthy body would cause symptoms that most closely match the symptoms of the individual being treated. (Once diluted, not even a single molecule of the original substance is detectable in the actual remedy.) This method is based on the theory that ‘like cures like.’ Research has not yet been able to uncover the reasoning behind why homeopathy works, but its effects are often very true, powerful, and are safe for those who use it. Even babies and animals can benefit from the use of homeopathy, a testimony against the possibility of it just being a sugar pill or ‘placebo effect.’

Why Use Homeopathy?

Homeopathy can be used for just about any complaint, especially those related to fertility, pregnancy, birthing, breastfeeding, and babies. It is useful in turning breech babies, strengthening labor contractions, morning sickness, increasing milk supply, and emotional problems such as anxiety and depression. It is extremely safe to a pregnant woman and her growing baby, and can be a great alternative to using conventional drugs that may be harmful or contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. For the same reasons, homeopathy can be a better alternative for babies and children and the many problems that they face while growing up, from teething pain to the flu, and everything in between. Homeopathy can even be considered if a child must be vaccinated, to help decrease harmful side effects and to support the child’s immune system.
